napowwrimo#16..prompt is ...WHAT'S THE SMELL.......remembering
MEMORY CELL
sitting inside my cell this morning
inside some mountain prison
where the reek of cat urine
and backed up sewer
seemed better than
the smell of death
becoming odorless
with my sudden loss of smell
I suddenly had wings
flying from this cell
to the banks of the Parvati River
and the mountain town of Kasol
with its spicy aroma
sitting with an Indian Sadhu
smoking hand made black hash
in his clay chillum
a medicine
in a spiritual context
Huxley's ultimate drug soma
black, oily with a sweet smell
never inhaled
never tasted but delicious
boycotting some consensus reality
remembering
from my memory cell

ohhhhhhh...please don't Wayne!
This was quite a trip taken within that small cell.
Wait a minute? Are you letting us know that you were once in jail?
Let me read this poem again...
Wayne,
This is superb! But tell me you haven't smoked hash (or have you?);)
Pamela
Jail N O..........hash.....umm oh ya...from India...to...Afghanistan San Fran and all in between....only for medicinal and spiritual though....and I dont lie like Bill...I actually inhaled some....my dad said Cigs are bad for you....so I never touched tabaccy...
Great mixture of scents. Nice work.
This kind of reminds me of the beings with wiongs breaking free from their daily grind in Brazil. I like your surreal approach. Reminds me a little of Terry Gilliam.
~Nicely done!

You know, even bad smells remind us that we're alive.. and cat urine and backed up sewer is about as bad as it can get really... Great poem
That's one fertile memory, Wayne!
you´re showing us a new place full of scents! It´s impressive.
Hi Wayne, great use of the prompt. Those smells are unforgettable!
