RWP #90 inspired by this photo (bradleyolin's photo)

Sunday night church
rings of fire
town of multitudes
under a full moon
howling hosannas at Johnny Cash
as the church lady balances the glowsticks
to the new ritual
everything is lost
nothing gained
as greed is the new law
opened then closed
by the rings of fire
sureal and romantic
rejoicing with Jesus and Shiva
with Brahma beer
cheering Johnny Cash
and the ring of fire

An excellent interpretation. Powerful and succinct.

Poetry for the people, of the people, and by the people! Nice job.
I wrote a poem about a nocturnal visitor in My Muskoka !

Wayne, you've put your signature to it in the last few lines..I like how you link the spiritual to the secular.

It is very imaginative to go from viewing the photograph to writing this line: "howling hosannas at Johnny Cash." What an image!

I like the secular feel and the images of 'Jesus and Shiva drunk on Brahma beer' :)

Great reference to Johnny Cash, and his tumultuous relationships, including with religion. Very creative how you link American religion to the "exotic" Shiva.

That sounds like a church service I might actually attend :). I loved the image of "the church lady balances the glowsticks", which is a nice counter point to the photo prompt.

I love the way you take these disparate cultural points and squeeze them together so evocatively.
