SWEATING IT OUT

RWP#113

SWEATING IT OUT

Welcome to our sauna
the home of many bums
there is plenty of room
to sit around naked
sweating in silence
discussing the facts of nothing
forgetting the lost days never found
and the dark nights of nowhere
without headaches or snapped minds
reading Huxley, Kerouac and Marx
watching the medieval tombstones
floating down the silvering creek
towards a tidal wave of water
where nuns and monks dance
and tiny fish swim
in a torquoise sea of light
where no one has invented ownership
or discovered hate
we sit silent with our breath
disolved in our space
sweating it out.

Wayne your sauna is such a mind trip. I see your home too..you have a beautiful life don't you?

I liked the end of this too, "sweating it out". Given the list of things used to occupy the sauna sitters time: discussions, books, ets, it that what is being sweated out? Such a smart way of describing a mental purge of daily life!

Your place is gorgeous. How luxurious to have an open air sauna. We can get the same sweat thing here in the outback here from leaving the house and getting into the car.It has been a stinker of a summer!

Ya it is gorgeous Rall..sauna is not actually "open air"...it is a small sauna built from cedar right on the banks of small creek that never freezes

Wayne, dare I project here and say what a wonderfully spiritual poem you've created here! I love the way the naked physicality, as it were, is sign and manifestation of the spiritual - or vice versa.

I love the 2nd line... the way the wordplay so nicely sets us up for a nice mix of humor and spirituality.

I've been feeling the need to sweat some things out lately, so I found your poem to be most therapeutic!
