JOURNEY

Prairie Sky #5 acrylic....by Wayne

JOURNEY .....from an earlier poem with a few changes..

my journey like my paintings

explore the sacredness of place

influenced by a serene landscape

with the horizon a theme or metaphor

a point of stillness reflecting back

both top and bottom

with balanced energy

inviting

more than describing

a tight sliver of line

where sky meets land

sometimes calm

sometimes restless

an interplay between inner being

and physical outside world

creating tension between light and space

a place between

the spiritual and material reality

always there

I thought the pic was a photo until I started reading your poem. Beautiful words and paintings. Have a great day.

I was going to try to find specific lines to use here to tell you what this makes me think of. Then realized that just as with a painting, your poem is one whole with the horizon exactly where it belongs. This all reminds me of a post I read everyday from a site called through a Jungian Lens. The author uses his own photographs to explore Jungian theory about all of the same concepts you mention in your poem. You might enjoy taking a look, the site can be found here:

If you do find some sense of relativity, please let me know, okay?

PS And much thanks for stopping and letting me once again 'discuss' what is closest to my heart.

I think however much we value our space, it's always useful to have a reminder within it that reminds us of what's outside.

That inner knowledge is vital to the outside - defines it. Excellently done.

You must be from the Prairies? My dad was born in Neville, Sask. Inspiring paintings and very impressive writing. Wow!

The sacredness of place . . . what a fantastic subject for any writing. Think on the different meanings of place . . . and the writing can explore the universe. Thank you for sharing this.

Wonderful piece Wayne, and I am really drawn to the power of your paintings, in their zen simplicity -- would love to own one, but resources these days are simple as well...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY my friend -- may there be many more!!! :-)
